Season Champions
Each season points are awarded to competitors for their performance, and at the season-end the Championship is awarded to the car and the motorcycle with the highest cumulative total points. Currently, points are awarded as follows:
- 50 points are awarded at the start line (even if the run is subsequently aborted).
- For a completed run, the vehicle is awarded an additional 50 points, plus 2 points per whole mph by which the vehicle exceeds the existing record, or minus 1 point per whole mph by which the speed is less than the existing record (up to a 50 point deduction).
- Only the points from the fastest verified run of the meet by each vehicle are counted.
The Championship Trophy is awarded to each of the season Champions, and plaques are awarded to the second through tenth place finishers. For the 2001 season and before cars and motorcycles competed against each other for a single championship award. Commencing in 2002, the ECTA began awarding separate championship points for cars and motorcycles.
