200 MPH Club Inducts Three New Members in September 2006

We had an historic weekend for the 200 Club. We inducted three new members of the club this weekend, each with a story to tell.

Our visitor from California, a well known SCTA bike racer, John Noonan, ran the Tiger Racing Hayabusa to a new APS/F-3000/4 record of 214.331 mph, to earn his ECTA green hat. John is now one of an elite club of racers who belong to four “2-clubs.” (Well, we have to mention that our own Keith Turk has 5 of them, but he’s a car guy, so who cares?)

Then to add to that, our own (we-watched-him-grow-up) Thomas Cronan earned his membership in the 200 Club.  Thomas, at a young 20 years of age, went a blistering 213.249 mph on a 207+ mph existing record. He was riding Jim Hansen’s Hayabusa to grab the APS/G-2000/4 record and earn his green hat. Thomas is a well known racer in the ECTA (racing since he was 16), and is often referred to as “the second coat of paint,” because of his uncanny ability to mold to the bike out of the wind and get those extra couple of miles per hour.

Finally, Walt Kudron got his green hat. After assaulting the MPS/BG-1350/4 record on Saturday with no success, he switched to the M/BG-1650/4 class on Sunday. Better yet he did it naked. Well, not literallly, girls, it’s just a term we use for an unfaired bike. He removed the fairing and set a new record at 204.592 mph. As such, he earned his place as only the fifth member of the Naked Chapter of the 200 Club. Congratulations, Walt.

And congratulations to all of our new inductees.
